The Foundation for the Defense of Citizens Against State Abuses (FACIAS) has reported an obvious case of discrimination, revealing that employees of the Ministry of Finance retain a special legal status that allows them to recoup any court fees.
"Individuals holding or having held public positions , senior officials, civil officials, and contract staff within the Ministry of Public Finance, the National Agency for Fiscal Administration, and the units subordinated to it, are entitled to recover court costs incurred in legal proceedings initiated against them under Order No. 50/2011.”
This Order regulating the organization and operation of the Ministry of Public Finance offers special treatment to specific groups of individuals and generates a discrimination against the other citizens," stated FACIAS.
As a response, FACIAS asked the Ministry of Finance for clarification, demanding formal responses on how many people affected by this order, the amount settled from the state budget starting with 2011 until today, and in how many instances the court fees were recovered.
"FACIAS is a non-governmental, non-profit, and apolitical organization that works closely with the Council of Europe and the European Commission through the European Association for Local Democracy (ALDA), which was founded in 2008 and specializes in human rights advocacy.
