Decalogue of Education Disasters, case number seven:
In hundreds of schools in Romania, there is no minimum separation, no separators, children cannot wash their hands with soap and water!
Who is responsible for the danger pupils are exposed to?
The Foundation For The Defense Of Citizens Against State Abuses (FACIAS) calls for the resignation of Minister Monica Anisie, for the disastrous situation of the education system and for her failure to ensure that schools are prepared to ensure the safety standards recommended by specialists, in the context of the COVID-19 epidemic.
In very many schools it is impossible to ensure the minimum distance of 1.5 metres between pupils and the recommendation was that in this case Plexiglas dividers should be installed. As shown, in most schools these separators do not exist.
Moreover, it is almost impossible to comply with the recommended hygiene rules, given that a UNICEF report reveals that a quarter of schools in Romania do not have access to basic facilities for washing hands with soap and water. One in five schools also has no sanitary authorisation to operate.
Thus, once again, there is a lack of any concern to collaborate with other authorities to ensure that at least minimum hygiene rules are observed in every school in Romania, in order to provide a minimum level of protection for pupils attending school during this delicate period.
FACIAS has launched the "Decalogue of Education Disasters" campaign, outlining ten reasons why Minister Anisie should resign.
