The Foundation For The Defense Of Citizens Against State Abuses (FACIAS) points out a number of serious problems in the Romanian education system, which the Ministry of Education cannot solve and which make education the worst crisis of the last thirty years. At this rate we are certainly heading for a catastrophe.
The opening of the school year has shown us the scale of the disaster and the fact that the current minister is completely out of his depth.
The failure to respect the right to education, a right recognised by the Constitution, is an unacceptable abuse and FACIAS calls for the immediate resignation of Minister Monica Anisie.
A new reason for this, the third in the "Decalogue of Disasters in Education", stems from the fact that two secretaries of state in the Ministry of Education have gone on holiday, with the permission of Minister Anisie, to campaign for the elections.
The two state secretaries who received permission to go on leave, Luminița Barcari and Dragoș Rădulescu, are candidates in the local elections. The former is a PNL candidate for the Ialomița CJ, the latter a PMP candidate for Ploiesti City Hall. Luminița Barcari is in charge of pre-university education in the ministry.
The departure of the two was defended by Prime Minister Ludovic Orban, who said that the Education Ministry was operating at full capacity. This is to be expected, given that all these politicians are focused on political interests.
Luminița Barcari is one of dozens of general school inspectors appointed by Monica Anisie on the basis of political affiliation, and most of them are today campaigning for the PNL, with more concern for the positions they are running for than for the situation in education.
