PRESS RELEASE
The Foundation For The Defense Of Citizens Against State Abuses (FACIAS) has appealed the court's decision in the case against the Institute of Legal Medicine "Mina Minovici".
The first deadline of the appeal is today and FACIAS is convinced that information of public interest will finally reach all Romanians.
FACIAS sued the Institute of Legal Medicine "Mina Minovici" (IML) for refusing to provide public information on the number of people who have suffered or died from nosocomial infections contracted in health care facilities in Romania.
FACIAS's request in this regard was met with a wall of indifference at the INML, where it did not even receive a registration number.
The request made by FACIAS, beyond the nature of the information requested, which is of public interest, is to induce the authorities to develop methodological rules for the implementation of Law 3/2021 on the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of healthcare-associated infections in medical units and residential homes for adults in need in Romania. These essential rules have still not been drawn up.
FACIAS will continue to work on this regardless of any obstacles.
