The Foundation for the Defence of Citizens Against State Abuses (FACIAS) will conduct a study dedicated to identifying and promoting effective solutions to reduce emigration, support families and encourage the return to their country of Romanians working abroad. FACIAS initiative from the Campaign for Respecting the Rights of Romanians Working Abroad, in which FACIAS achieved an important victory by taking the Romanian Government to court in order to comply with the law on the protection of Romanian citizens working abroad, urgently adopting the necessary norms for its implementation.
The lack of professional prospects, insufficient income, difficulties in accessing housing, and problems in the education and health systems are among the factors that have contributed to the departure of a significant number of Romanians in recent decades.
In order to identify effective solutions, within the Campaign for Respecting the Rights of Romanians Abroad, FACIAS will conduct a sociological study dedicated to analysing the causes and evolution of Romanian emigration after 1989, as well as identifying the conditions that might encourage the return of Romanians from the diaspora to their country.
FACIAS's objective is for the research results to be transformed into actual public policy proposals, by which the authorities may create conditions allowing Romanians to work, start families, raise their children and build a future in Romania.
The campaign starts from the Romanian state's inability to build efficient public policies, capable of offering citizens real development opportunities in their own country, and aims at identifying solutions to stimulate entrepreneurship and the development of small businesses.
FACIAS supports the simplification of administrative procedures, the reduction of bureaucracy and the elimination of obstacles that hinder the establishment and development of businesses. Romanians who want to work or develop their own business must find also in Romania conditions to obtain stable incomes and a decent standard of living.
Based on the conclusions, FACIAS will submit to the authorities a list of public policy proposals, based on the research results, and will request their integration into a national strategy to reduce emigration, support families and encourage the return of Romanians from the diaspora.
