At the end of April, The Foundation for the Defense of the Citizen Against State Abuses (FACIAS) sued the Ministry of European Investment and Projects (MIEP), asking it to provide annexes to the National Recovery and Resilience Plan containing information on how it was negotiated. The lawsuit came after MIEP systematically refused FACIAS's requests to provide the requested documents, classifying them as "secret". Just a few days after our action was made official, MIEP reacted!
In the reply sent to FACIAS by the Ministry of Investment and European Projects, Minister Marcel Boloș informs that a control action has been launched at the level of the ministry he heads in order to identify possible secret documents. This is important because Romanians have the right to know the information on which the negotiations on the NRRP were based and which the then Minister, for unknown reasons, chose to keep away from the public.
FACIAS has discovered that both the communication between the Romanian side, represented by MIEP and the European Commission, and the documents associated with the creation of the NRRP have been classified as "state secret", although they contain details of economic and social actions concerning Romanians. In addition, FACIAS has pointed out that the secrecy of these documents violates one of the reforms proposed by the NRRP, namely that of decision-making transparency.
FACIAS's demand for the de-secretisation of the documents on which the NRRP is based is aimed at uncovering state abuses to the detriment of Romanians' interests.
