The Foundation For The Defense Of Citizens Against State Abuses (FACIAS), launches a petition on the elaboration and assumption of a National Pact on the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.
FACIAS believes that it is essential for the whole Romanian society to overcome the rivalries and internal conflicts that make us vulnerable, reacting as one to the health, administrative and economic consequences of the crisis we are going through. It is only by acting together that we can successfully overcome all the effects, many of them still unknown, of this global threat.
FACIAS therefore calls on political and administrative leaders, media institutions and representatives of civil society to adhere to three key principles: full transparency in pandemic activities, approaches to COVID-19 based on prevention and accountability, and a firm fight against any abuse or deliberate misinformation.
FACIAS believes that compliance with these principles, beyond the inherent benefits they would bring, could secondarily restore citizens' trust in public institutions, state authorities and civil society representatives.
