The Foundation For The Defense Of Citizens Against State Abuses (FACIAS) informs all citizens who consider that they have been unfairly fined during the state of emergency for violating the provisions of military ordinances that they can challenge these fines in court until 30 May 2020.
FACIAS warns that the decision of the Romanian Constitutional Court, which ruled that fines imposed in accordance with the provisions of military ordinances are unconstitutional, does not automatically entail their annulment. Appeals against the fine can only be lodged with the court until 30 May, i.e. 15 days after the end of the state of emergency.
Those who have already contested the fines can now use the CCR decision in court.
Similarly, those who have already paid the fines can challenge them and, if successful, will recover their money from the state.
