A new tragedy raises serious suspicions of medical malpractice. Those responsible must pay! The Foundation For The Defense Of The Citizens Against State Abuses (FACIAS) has notified the Dolj Public Health Department (DSP Dolj) and asked it to immediately order an investigation at the private clinic MaDonna Maria in Craiova, following the death of a newborn baby on January 12, 2026, just two days after birth. FACIAS has asked DPS Dolj to verify whether the legal and administrative regime under which the medical facility operates is respected.

According to information made public by the family, in the first hours after the birth, the newborn was tested and the results would have shown an elevated C-reactive protein level, possibly associated with an inflammatory or infectious process. The family claims that they were not informed about the diagnosis, treatment or the development of the child's condition, only the possibility of medication being mentioned in general terms, without any specific details.

The following morning, the family was informed that the newborn was undergoing resuscitation maneuvers, which were performed for about an hour. According to the parents, they were not informed before or during these interventions and were not given any explanation as to the cause of death, or after the death.

Given the seriousness of the reported facts and the legal attributions of the Directorate of Public Health Dolj, FACIAS calls for the urgent launch of checks to establish whether the medical unit MaDonna Maria, belonging to SC EiffelMed SRL, had at the time of the event a valid operating license and all the permits required by law to carry out specific medical activities.

At the same time, FACIAS asks for verification of compliance with clinical protocols and medical procedures applicable to the monitoring and treatment of newborns. FACIAS also requests that the Dolj Public Health Directorate publicly clarify the date and conclusions of the latest checks carried out at this medical unit, any irregularities found and the measures taken.

This initiative is part of the national campaign run by FACIAS for the reform of the procedure in which medical malpractice cases are investigated and settled in Romania, a campaign that targets both medical liability and the responsibility of the control institutions.
