In response to a request from FACIAS (FACIAS), the Minister of Transport, Sorin Grindeanu, took the decision to withdraw from public debate the draft law that provided for the evacuation from trains and train stations of citizens who might show signs of illness. This draft law could have flagrantly violated the fundamental rights of Romanian and EU citizens, and thus was deemed to be in violation of the European Convention on Human Rights.
In the absence of clear regulations and procedures, FACIAS has highlighted the potential for abusive and discriminatory measures to have a significantly detrimental impact on fundamental human rights. This could have resulted in the possibility of abuses by CFR employees or other rail transport operators.
