Following a request from The Foundation For The Defense Of Citizens Against State Abuses (FACIAS), regarding what has been called in the press a "drug crisis", the Ministry of Health has given assurances that the situation is being resolved and that steps have been taken in recent months to replace medicines that are disappearing from the market.
Earlier, FACIAS asked the Minister of Health, Victor Sebastian Costache, to prioritise this problem, which endangers the lives of hundreds of thousands of Romanians and affects the right to health protection that all citizens of this country have.
According to information received by FACIAS, there are currently 19 drugs that have received a decision rejecting the proposed prices and for which no pharmaceutical equivalents have been identified on the market. The Ministry of Health gives assurances that, if the situation requires it, replacement medicines will be put on the market through the special needs authorisation procedure.
FACIAS is closely monitoring the situation of these categories of medicines to ensure that patients in Romania are not left without the necessary treatments for their conditions. Patients facing a lack of medicines for treatment are asked to contact FACIAS on 021.335.40.22 to contact the Ministry of Health.
