The Foundation For The Defense Of Citizens Against State Abuses (FACIAS) has developed a free practical guide for people who will be deprived of health insurance as of September 1, in the context of the new legislative changes. The guide explains, in simple steps, what citizens need to do to be able to pay for their own health insurance.

The need for such a guide arose because, starting September 1, 2025, according to Law No. 141/2025, co-insured persons will lose their status as insured persons. They will no longer automatically benefit from non-contributory health insurance and, in order to continue to have health insurance, they will have to pay for it themselves.

The only categories of co-insured persons who remain covered by health insurance are children, pupils or certain categories of students, pregnant women, pensioners, unemployed persons receiving benefits, persons with severe disabilities or illnesses covered by national health programs, and persons on parental leave.

All other categories of co-insured persons will lose this status at the beginning of September.

This initiative is part of FACIAS' "It's My Right" campaign.
