The Foundation for the Defense of Citizens Against State Abuses (FACIAS) emphasizes the multiple errors caused by Romania's government in developing the National Plan for Resilience and Recovery (PNRR), which could lead to losses for Romania.
Numerous officials reported errors and commented on the initial draft of Romania's PNRR, which was provided to the European Commission. According to Romanian authorities, the final version will be submitted at the end of this month, one month after the deadline.
The maximum approved amount available in grants and loans is 29.2 billion euros, compared to 40 billion euros previously agreed. As a result, substantial sums have withdrawn from critical areas such as education.
Another major concern raised by the Commission was the requested investment for irrigation, respective to the fact that the projects in the PNRR are based on outdated, energy-intensive methods, which stands in opposition to the Green Deal's core concept.
PNRR is a unique opportunity for Romania to to minimize the economic effects of the pandemic and establish a sustainable economy.
As part of the project of monitoring the Romanian Government's activity, FACIAS actively monitors and analyzes the Executive's conduct in correlation with the objectives assumed when taking command of the government.
