The Foundation For The Defense Of Citizens Against State Abuses (FACIAS) welcomes the amendments to the Emergency Ordinance No 147/2020, proposed by the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection, whereby, in the case of single-parent families, the declaration of the other parent will no longer be required to claim entitlement to days off or salary increases.
Amendments in this regard were requested by FACIAS at the end of November last year, which pointed out that in practice, OUG 147/2020 obtaining the affidavit of the other parent was impossible. Given that there are between 14% and 18% single-parent families in Romania, FACIAS asked the Government to amend the law to include single-parent families by introducing an exception for them.
On 16 February, the amendments issued by the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection were adopted to amend OUG 147/2020, concerning the granting of days off for parents to supervise their children in the event of limitation or suspension of teaching activities involving the physical presence of children in educational establishments, in the context of the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic.
