PRESS RELEASE - "Respect and Responsibility" Campaign

Data: 22.08.2023

The Foundation For The Defense Of Citizens Against State Abuses (FACIAS), in collaboration with the law firm Daniel Ionascu, launches the campaign "Respect and Responsibility", which aims to make the state and all those who bear responsibility for situations in which severe adverse medical reactions were found in people vaccinated against COVID 19.

FACIAS intends to provide support and information to people who have suffered medically, morally and financially as a result of the anti-COVID 19 vaccination, so that these Romanians have the chance to receive compensation from those responsible for the damages suffered.

The state must face responsibility to citizens

Contracts between EU Member States and manufacturers of Covid-19 vaccines contain a number of clauses on liability for severe adverse reactions. However, these clauses are confidential and have not been made public following requests from the vaccine manufacturers. There have been reports in the press that the responsibility for compensation would be shared between the vaccine company and the state, but without specifying the amount, the threshold of compensation, etc. What is certain is that the Romanian Government has foreseen the possibility of compensation in the COVID 19 Vaccination Strategy: "Creation of the legal framework for the analysis and compensation of any possible lasting effects related to vaccination, if a causal link between vaccination and those effects is proven".

However, the Romanian state is not only in no hurry to complete the necessary procedures in this matter, but is trying to shift the responsibility to patients, in the sense that they have to prove the link between the vaccine and the adverse effects, although in most countries a reasonable suspicion of causality is sufficient.

Legal advice from a German law firm

FACIAS believes that it is normal that any Romanian who suffered directly from the COVID 19 vaccine should be compensated. That is why our partner law firm in Romania has already initiated a collaboration and exchange of experience with German lawyers, so that the manufacturers of the vaccines that have caused significant adverse effects can also respond in Romania. There are currently several class action lawsuits open in Germany as a result of adverse reactions caused by anti-COVID vaccines, and the German lawyers involved have indicated their willingness to collaborate with Romanian lawyers on this issue.

Across Europe, a huge number of people have complained of adverse reactions to the vaccine, and compensation funds have already been set up in many European countries and beyond.

In Romania alone, more than 20,000 people have officially reported adverse reactions to COVID vaccines, while estimates indicate more than 1 million people in similar situations worldwide.

A call upon Romanians who have suffered

The first step of this campaign involves Romanian citizens who have suffered from the Covid vaccination and can present a minimum of evidence (medical documents proving certain post-vaccination side effects). Therefore, FACIAS calls on Romanians who want to find justice to write to [email protected] and tell about what happened to them. Afterwards, the cases will be analysed from a medical and legal point of view with the help of teams of specialists in the field.
