The Foundation for the Defense of the Citizen Against State Abuses (FACIAS) continues its civic campaign to find those responsible and correct the serious errors committed by the Romanian authorities in the case of the German paedophile, released from prison after admitting to molesting 36 minors. FACIAS wrote and sent a letter to the Minister of Justice Cătălin Predoiu in which it presented the inexcusable series of irregularities, but also which institutions are responsible for the state of public insecurity generated by the release of an individual, a German citizen, who admitted his crimes against Romanian children.
FACIAS asked the Minister to verify the errors reported and detailed in the letter and to come up with a series of concrete measures to prevent and avoid these unbelievable situations for a state where citizens should feel protected.
State officials should explain to Romanians how it was possible for the authorities to allow an individual to molest children while under surveillance. How was it possible for this individual to be released from pre-trial detention? What can a parent in this country feel when they learn of these outrageous facts?
FACIAS will continue this work and invites the public to join them. Only together can we prevent such tragic developments.
