UPDATE: Regarding the announcement by the Prosecutor's Office of the High Court of Cassation and Justice that prosecutors are not investigating the suspicions of forgery and counterfeiting in the protocol between the SRI, the General Prosecutor's Office and the High Court of Justice because "no complaint has been filed so far", we would like to point out that:
The Foundation for the Defense of the Citizen Against State Abuses (FACIAS) has referred the matter to the General Prosecutor's Office and is calling for an investigation to be launched into suspicions of forgery and misuse of false information in the protocol between the SRI, the General Prosecutor's Office and the High Court of Cassation and Justice.
FACIAS asked the authorities to verify the information appearing in the public space according to which Professor Nicolae Popa, former President of the Supreme Court, did not sign the protocol, did not participate in its negotiation with the other contracting institutions (SRI and Prosecutor's Office) and did not give his consent to its conclusion.
The situation is all the more serious given that Mrs Lidia Bărbulescu, who was appointed interim president of the High Court of Cassation and Justice after the retirement of Prof. Nicolae Popa, declared that she had no knowledge of this protocol.
Under these circumstances, the Public Prosecutor's Office must investigate the suspicions of forgery and use of forgery and find out who forged this official document which, in the absence of other mentions, is still valid and produces legal effects.
