Following the tragedy in Piatra Neamt, FACIAS requests:

  1. Permanent assistance for victims' families!
  2. Concrete steps to prevent similar accidents!
  3. Immediate dismissal of the Minister of Health!

The Foundation For The Defense Of Citizens Against State Abuses, following the preliminary assessment of the causes and tragic effects of the fire at the intensive care unit of the Piatra Neamt County Hospital, requests Mr. Ludovic Orban, Prime Minister of Romania, the following immediate measures:

  1. To launch, through the Control Corps in collaboration with local authorities, a national audit of all intensive care units in the country. Under the pressure of the huge number of illnesses with the new Coronavirus, there is a REAL AND IMMEDIATE risk that the tragedy in Piatra Neamt will be repeated in other hospitals in the country.
  2. Appoint a government official to provide permanent assistance to the families directly affected by the fire in Piatra Neamt. In times of maximum distress, every family has the right to fast and transparent information about the situation of their loved ones and the progress of the investigation.
  3. The dismissal of the Minister of Health, directly responsible for the overcrowding of intensive care units across the country, due to poor preparation for the second wave of the Pandemic 19. From March to September, the Minister of Health had the time to increase the number of intensive care unit beds under absolutely safe conditions. Because he failed in this endeavour, hospitals across the country are today in acute shortage of intensive care beds, being forced to improvise. The result of these improvisations: tragedies that could have been prevented!
