Since 13 July, The Foundation For The Defense Of Citizens Against State Abuses (FACIAS) has become a member of Friends of Europe. We continuously strive to connect to the most important networks and communities to fight alongside important actors for citizens' rights and to prevent abuses.
Friends of Europe is a group of experts whose remit is to debate and analyse the policies of the European Union and important issues concerning citizens' rights and freedoms. The organisation is independent of the EU institutions and has no political affiliation. FACIAS's strategic objectives include: promoting the next generation of leaders, regenerating democracy, eliminating inequalities, supporting the green transformation agenda, repositioning Europe's role on the global stage and most importantly building trust between decision-makers and citizens, aiming to promote citizen-centred governance.
We chose to implement this association in order to promote justice and social equality together, as both organisations aim to foster European values and freedoms. By acquiring membership, FACIAS has gained another important ally in the fight against state abuses.
We are pleased to have Friends of Europe membership with which we can advance current concerns in Romania about citizens' rights and freedoms in the European context. Such a perspective gives us the chance to improve our ideas and help us to develop with other like-minded organisations to help citizens. We will engage in joint projects with Friends of Europe and with all our partners in order to enhance actions in support of citizens.
The association between FACIAS and Friends of Europe strengthens the status and occupation of our organisation in relation to European work. The prestige offered by Friends of Europe confirms the seriousness of our work and implies that FACIAS aims to serve citizens and support them in order to improve step by step society and strengthen the rule of law. We are therefore proud to be a member of Friends of Europe and expect that this collaboration will help us achieve our common ambitions of protecting citizens and justice.
FACIAS, according to its statutory purpose, but also through its constant activity over the past 14 years, defends the rights of citizens and seeks to ensure transparency in the functioning of state institutions as a principle of democracy and the rule of law.
