Bucharest City Hall and General Mayor Nicusor Dan continue to defy taxpayers by refusing to answer reasonable inquiries concerning how public funds are spent within the Bucharest Municipal Company for Trees and Green Space Maintenance (CMIASVB).

Fundația pentru Apărarea Cetățenilor Împotriva Abuzurilor Statului (FACIAS) has filed a lawsuit against Bucharest City Hall for refusing to investigate employee wages, corporate losses, and the usage of work cars for personal use.

Well over a month ago, FACIAS requested the General Mayor to begin an investigation in order to clarify media reports that expose employees that benefit from high incomes at CMIASVB, despite their lack of higher education and essential skills to justify the salary. FACIAS' official request to City Hall also included a request for an investigation within CMIASVB to clarify the issues reported publicly and to take any necessary procedures.

FACIAS filed a lawsuit against the general mayor, for failing to meet the legal deadline of 30 days in which a response should have been delivered.

Thousands of households in Bucharest are still living without heat and hot water, while the city hall wastes public funds.

Access to information of public interest is a legal right, and upholding it is critical to maintaining an honest and trusting relationship between individuals and government officials.

Fundația pentru Apărarea Cetățenilor împotriva Abuzurilor Statului (FACIAS) strives to defend citizens' rights and provide transparency in the operation of governmental institutions as a foundation of democracy and rule of law.
