FACIAS points out that Romania risks paying tens of millions of euros in sanctions imposed by the EU through infringement proceedings arising from the failure to transpose European directives in time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The current state of the European directives with outdated transposition deadlines is alarming, at this time Romania is subject to several infringement proceedings for the approximately 30 directives that had to be fully transposed into national law two years ago and for which Romanians will bear fines imposed by the E.U.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
For a single non-implemented directive, the Romanian state paid the amount of three million euros, representing the obligation to pay to the European Commission in case C-549\/18 - the infringement action generated by the non-transposition of the U.E. directive. 2015\/849 on the prevention of the use of the financial system for the purpose of money laundering or terrorist financing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to a report published by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, so far, there are five other directives that are subject to infringement proceedings for which Romania could pay penalties of hundreds of thousands of euros.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
For the year 2022, Romania has to implement 18 new directives and if those who govern us will not come up with effective measures and will not hold the guilty responsible, all these sanctions will be felt in the pockets of Romanians.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
But huge fines are not the only cost the Romanians have to bear. Several directives that could have given Romanians a number of rights are still awaiting approval. One of these directives could have come to the aid of consumers, for which FACIAS requested the urgent transposition of Directive 2019\/2061 of 27 November 2019, which offers citizens the possibility to request remedial measures in case of abusive clauses imposed by traders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
FACIAS asked the Prime Minister to determine who is guilty of failure to transpose Directive 2019\/2061, which would have had a major contribution to consumer protection, offering Romanian citizens the opportunity to seek remedial action in case of abusive clauses imposed by traders.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
