Since November 1991, Romania has recognized the right to life of all children.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Specifically, the law on the protection and promotion of the children\u2019s rights clearly states that a child has the right to obtain citizenship and, after the birth has been registered, has the right to a name. Moreover, the child can keep his name, family relations and citizenship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Equally, the child has the right to grow up with parents, in conditions that give them the opportunity for physical, spiritual, mental and social development. But parents are also obliged to provide their children with education, supervision, to maintain them and, last but not least, to take their opinion into account.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Also, according to law 272, the child has the right to be heard. Depending on the age and degree of maturity, the child can request and receive relevant information, to be asked for his opinion and, of course, to be informed about the consequences that may arise by expressing the opinion, if it is respected. This right is not limited to legal representatives or parents but is also limited to public institutions or even a court.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The opinion of the child must also be heard in the case of adoption, if the minor has reached the minimum age of 10 years and, moreover, the child has the right to file complaints alone when it comes to the violation of fundamental rights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition, the child has the following rights: the right to freedom of expression, to have personal ties and social relations, the right to dignity and privacy, the right to health, education and, in the case of minors over 16, have the right to to get married - when they become adults before the law.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
