Today, one out of every four students is not enrolled in the baccalaureate exam. Without regard for the promotion rate, we begin with a large percentage of students who will fail the baccalaureate in the first session.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
No, Minister, the pandemic is not responsible for this situation; it is all the fault of the state authorities and those who have guided the fates of Romanian education for three decades. We don't have to look at past years' figures, but if we do, we can state that in 2021, when we were under lockdown and declared state of emergency, the percentage of students who did not enroll in the baccalaureate was substantially smaller than this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We've seen the signs for years, we know what they are, but we're still witnessing a phenomenon that is destroying the futures of tens of thousands of young people. The Romanian government is doing nothing concrete to fix the situation, save what can be saved, and ensure that the future of children and young people in this country is not jeopardized.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Education is a universal human right, one that the Constitution guarantees. Yet, what is the Romanian government doing to ensure that this fundamental right is upheld? Even today, we have the highest dropout rate in the EU.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We need immediate and substantial action to prevent a repeat of this catastrophe. We hope that by the twelfth hour, decision-makers will have the wisdom and inspiration to act in a cohesive, coordinated manner in order to avoid a disaster.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
